I’m Beth, an illustrator and graphic designer based in one of the smallest UK cities, Lichfield in Staffordshire.
I grew up in Birmingham, where my flare for drawing and art started young and was encouraged firstly by my parents and then through school and university at DMU, Leicester where I gained a BA(Hons) in Surface Decoration. The course appealed due to the commercial element of gaining skills to create designs for anything!
As with most graduates I felt a bit lost when I left, I bought a 50cc scooter and worked in an office where I got my work done fast so I could just doodle on their stationery. Before long I fell into the world of freelancing and haven’t looked back since. I love the variety it has brought to my career; from childrenswear, greetings cards, branding, educational resources, childrens books, packaging and more!
I love to draw, that’s my favourite bit of design process…each creation starts with a hand drawn sketch, often quite a scruffy one! Digitally I mainly work with Photoshop, Illustrator and Fresco where I often incorporate my scanned hand drawn or painted creations with digital elements.
Aside from work I like to run, not far… just enough for some time out in the fresh air with my dog or running buddy, I have an obsession with Vinted, buying not selling and I love a sandy beach, the uk coast brings me instant joy!
